Our Philosophy

We believe that the best work is done when we work collaboratively – with our team, with our trades, and with our clients. Every step we take together will be inspired by your unique taste and guided by our expertise as we use our connections, skills, and knowledge to determine your ideal design with an experienced hand.

Beth Lowenfeld

Principal

People often ask Beth how she got started in the world of interior design; her answer is that interior design chose her. Beth demonstrated a keen eye for space and colour from a young age, and her participation in her family’s home renovation projects led to a first job as a design assistant in her hometown of Montreal when she was just 18 years old.

Her passion for design inspired Beth to pursue a master’s degree in Art History with a focus on architecture at the University of Toronto. Just before graduation, she started working for the British luxury paint and wallpaper manufacturer Farrow & Ball, and soon became their senior colour consultant in Canada. In this role, Beth successfully launched the company's in-home colour consultancy service and spoke regularly to industry professionals and public audiences about the relationship between design and colour. It was during this time that Beth’s aspiration to open her own design firm took shape.

Beth opened her first design consultancy business in 2010, focusing on residential design and colour specification. Right from the get-go, the firm managed a wide range of projects, from decorating to complicated remodels and renovations. Today, Beth and her team at Four Blocks South are working on a variety of projects, helping clients to create spaces they love.

Leah Shannon

Senior Designer

Leah Shannon’s childhood memories include being driven around by her parents to look at bricks on Sunday afternoons, and getting her boots stuck in the mud on construction sites. As a child, she watched as her parents built two homes from the ground up, and since then, she has built her own career in the design industry.

For 15+ years, Leah worked as a graphic designer with a focus on environmental graphics, first specializing in environmental graphics in museums and public spaces across North America. She then spent several years in the corporate world, designing graphics and branding for office spaces, events, and conferences. She later became the Interiors Contributor for My Child Magazine, a position she held for two years, while running her own e-commerce company designing décor for nurseries and kids’ rooms.

Leah joined Four Blocks South in 2017 and holds the position of Senior Designer, in which she enjoys creating design solutions for homeowners that are both beautiful and functional.
