This residential interior design project included a complete remodel and addition to accommodate a family of busy professionals with two young children. Located in Toronto’s Allenby neighbourhood, the clients wanted to maintain some of the period details of the original home while modernizing significantly for their busy lives.
We assisted in the design concept phase and helped manage the build, designing the kitchen and bathrooms while also selecting all finishes, furnishings, fabrics, colour schemes, and accessories.
Overall, the colour palette consisted of serene blues, greens, and greys to create a relaxing environment for the family and to recall the wife’s love of her native Newfoundland. We added in some bold choices with floral wallpaper in the dining room and bird fabric on the roman blinds in the living room for added interest.
The kitchen was designed with a chef in mind, including plenty of inserts and a home for everything to help the family stay organized. On the second floor, we put a modern twist on the traditional black-and-white bathroom as a nod to the original character of the home. The master bathroom was designed to feel like an oasis for the homeowner; bold turquoise colours offset the soft greys and warm wood, highlighted by a skylight to create a sanctuary-like space.
